Hi! My name is Will. I am a Ph.D student working with Dr. Nowicki and the Ice Sheet and Sea Level Lab. My interests largely revolve around changes within the cryosphere (mostly Antarctica) due to both anthropogenic and natural forcings. I completed my bachelor’s degree in 2024 at Temple University, and graduated Ohio University with a master’s in 2026. My master’s thesis titled “Processes Associated With Extreme Antarctic Sea Ice Event Anomalies in Coupled Climate Models” investigated the overarching processes that occur before, during, and after extreme Antarctic sea ice states in six CMIP6 coupled climate models. I looked at both general climate variables such as surface ocean and air temperature and sea level pressure as well as the occurrence of common modes of internal variability like ENSO and SAM. At UB, I hope to investigate how internal variability can impact Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS) projections in the model world and begin to investigate the global coupled climate impacts from a changing AIS.
