Postdoctoral Fellow 2021-present

Hello, I’m Rachel, a second-year postdoc at the University at Buffalo, NY in palaeoglaciology. I focus on alpine glaciology throughout the Quaternary, primarily based in Scandinavia and Antarctica and is now expanding to Greenland. Currently, I am developing a method for identifying the Little Ice Age extent via Sentinel 2A images. I am also exploring the concept of when glaciers become disconnected from ice sheets.

Previously, during my PhD, I investigated the relationship between geomorphic cirques and climate. I am a current EGU Early Career Representative for Geomorphology. When I am is not fighting with ArcGIS, I enjoy hiking, camping, travelling or playing in the local orchestra. Please find me on twitter @rpassig1 or on my personal website: https://drrpoien.wixsite.com/rpoien for more information about current and previous projects! I am always looking for new collaborations!
